It is that time of the year, and browsing through your mail. NO! I said mail, not email; you will find a letter from the DMV reminding you to renew your driver's license.
As a common sense citizen, you gathered your paperwork, set up an appointment to skip the long lines, and came to the DMV. As one of the two documents proving your address, you can use a letter with your name and the mailing address. One may think it is great that I have an official letter from the DMV! Let's face it: it is 2023, and you get most paper communication from solicitations. So you come up to a clerk and give all the paperwork you have, including the letter from the DMV reminding you that you need to renew your license. The clerk looks at you and tells you that the DMV letter is not on the form and can not be considered an official form confirming your address.
